We are a community built by and for informal educators. Because our goal is to both support you and advance the broader field of informal education, trust and transparency are our top priorities. Here is exactly what information we collect, how it fuels our academic research, and how we protect your privacy.

1. What Information We Collect
Account Information: When you join CAMZIE, we collect your name, email address, and the professional background details you choose to share in your profile.
Community Contributions: We store the forum posts, replies, lesson plans, and resources you contribute to the community.
Technical Data: Because CAMZIE runs on WordPress, the platform uses standard cookies to keep you securely logged in and to remember your site preferences. We also log standard server data (such as IP addresses) strictly for security, troubleshooting, and spam prevention.

2. How We Use Your Information We use your data for two primary purposes: operating the community and conducting academic research.
Community Operations: To manage your account, moderate the forum according to our Code of Conduct, and send you essential updates about the platform.
Advancing the Field (Academic Research): A core part of CAMZIE’s mission is to better understand the needs, challenges, and current methodologies of informal educators. We analyze anonymized discussions, trends, and shared resources on the platform to conduct academic research strictly aimed at improving both the CAMZIE experience and the informal education profession as a whole.

3. How We Protect and Share Your Data We do not sell your personal data or use it for marketing research.
Strict Anonymization: Any data utilized for academic research, university partnerships, or formal publication is strictly de-identified. We will never attach your name, workplace, email, or username to your quotes or data in any public research.
Service Providers: We only share your information with the essential third-party services required to keep this site running (such as our secure web host and email provider).

4. Your Rights and Consent By joining CAMZIE, you consent to this policy. However, you always own your data. If you decide to leave the community, you can request to have your account and personal information permanently deleted at any time.

5. Contact Us If you have any questions about this policy, our research methods, or your data, please reach out to us at: contact@camzie.org
